Alexander Manzoni may have been a man of unknown species within the Disney Comics universe.
Description[]
According to one interpretation of events, Alexander Manzoni was a writer who wrote the novelette The Promised Spouses, based on which Mickey Mouse, Clarabelle Cow, Goofy and Peg-Leg Pete starred in a movie.
Behind the scenes[]
Alexander Manzoni (an Anglicization of historical writer Alessandro Manzoni's name) is mentioned in the title panel of The Promised Spouses.
The story is unclear on whether this first panel is a serious in-universe framing device suggesting that Alexander Manzoni and his novel exist in Mickey's fictional universe, or if it is simply a jokey way of getting across that the story is a Great Parody of Manzoni's novel without seriously proposing that its events are only a movie.
