Description[]
According to a story once told by the Ghost Host about his own mortal life, the hook-handed Brian Belew was a New Orleans attorney and an associate of the pirate Jean Lafitte. In his heyday, he knew all the skeletons in everybody's closets and was always willing to entertain the possibility of paid help to pirates looking to disappear from the eyes of the authorities. Hence, when William Gracey left behind his career as the pirate Captain Blood, he cameo to find Belew, who sold him a mansion that would become Gracey Manor.

Brian Belew appears in the 2005 story Mystery of the Manse: Part Three. He is obviously named for the comic artist of the same name who also worked on the Mystery of the Manse series.
