Briar and Bramble are two female Kelpies.
Description[]
Resembling two pastel-colored, dog-sized ponies, talking yet quadrupedal, Briar and Bramble are two kelpies who inhabit the Fairy Realm which 15th century Scottish Druids created as their personal golf course, hidden from the forces of King James (who had banned the sport).
Being Kelpies, Briar and Bramble's main goal is to lead visitors to a watery grave; for this they rely on their inviting, cutesy appearance and innocent voices and attitudes. However, once their nature is exposed, they are quite hopeless at salvaging the situation, making all sorts of very conspicuous feints to get people to ride them regardless.
In 2017, Scrooge McDuck and family (alongside Flintheart Glomgold were pulled into the Fairy Realm. Briar and Bramble, after failing to trick any of the ducks into getting drown, reluctantly explained the rules of the Druids' golfing challenge to them. They made several more unconvincing attempts at murdering the mortal visitors, demonstrating the ability to mimic voices. Though admitting defeat in the end, they watched eagerly as the enchanted Mists of Moorshire (to which, being immortal, they are immune) began to turn the Ducks into stone; this was the last that was seen of them as the thickening fog enveloped them.
Behind the scenes[]
Briar and Bramble are the main antagonists of the 2017 episode of DuckTales 2017, The Missing Links of Moorshire.
Their appearances and voice actresses are a humorous spoof of Twillight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, three of the most popular characters of the My Little Pony franchise — though, possibly to avoid copyright infringement, the colors and voices are swapped compared to the originals.
