Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is an animated series that was part of the Disney Afternoon.

Plot[]

Chip and Dale star in the series where they start a detective agency, the Rescue Rangers, along with their friends Gadget Hackwrench, Monterey Jack, and Zipper. The pint-sized detectives deal with crimes that are often "too small" for the police to handle, usually with other animals as their clients. The gang frequently find themselves going up against two particular arch-villains: Mafia-style tabby cat Fat Cat and mad scientist Norton Nimnul.

Production[]

The series that became Rescue Rangers was conceived by Tad Stones and Jymn Magon, who had initially pitched a television spinoff of Disney's film The Rescuers. Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenber rejected this initial idea, as plans were already in the works for a sequel that was eventually released as The Rescuers Down Under. As such, Stones and Magon created their own concept for a cop show involving small animal characters, under the name Metro Mice. A script was written with Karl Geurs. Eventually they reworked the concept into a detective series, and at the request of Michael Eisner replaced lead character Kit Colby with Chip and Dale.
