Cupid Fact File #124 — The Interdimensional Tavern is a prose story, written by Lupan Evezan. The sixth Cupid Fact File, it features the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids (including Bibliophile-962) and, in their debuts, Tpxszum, Frederick, Volensholagoz, SERIAL CODE 000000234 and the Drink-Mixer. Characters implied to be Gyro Gearloose and Donald Duck are also mentioned, though for copyright reasons they are not formally identified.
Description
Like other Cupid Fact Files, the short story purports itself to be a digitized version of a file from the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids' Archives, detailing information about a target that is, or was once, of interest to the Crew. In this case, it is the Interdimensional Tavern, in the Void, which they so like to visit.
References
- The Tavern's full name is “Volensholagoz’s Tavern, Grill, and Schmporp-Rehorbbler”. It opened in “April of ∉∝” and allegedly has not changed its staff since.
- Volensholagoz resembles an inanimate golf ball, although the employees all insist that he is in fact a person and the boss.
- The waiters Tpxszum and Frederick come from Dimension )-0//zx.
- Clockwork Cherubs do not need to eat to survive at all, but do have “finely-tuned” taste-receptors which allow them to enjoy “the Gruel”, the single, but extraordinarly delicious, food served at the Tavern.
- One of the many drinks served at the Tavern, the Quasi-spiraled Moonduster, is said to taste “like the sixth star of the Gambit System in Dimension ^6-Q”.
- Members of the Department of Documentation who were relaxing at the Tavern once had a “very interesting conversation” with a cockatoo inventor whose three-wheeled time-machine had malfunctioned, landing him and his waterfowl friend in the Void.
Continuity
- Tpxszum and Frederick note that their homeworld, Dimension )-0//zx, “no longer exists”. The circumstances of its destruction were mentioned a short while later in Marksmanship-522 and the Multi-Dimensional Race (2019).
