Dance of Dreams is an unofficial animated trailer for an equally-unofficial, nonexistent trailer. It was created by a fan known as “Dawnbuneary”, and features Webby Vanderquack, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, and a Masked Villainess.
Description
In a pastiche of the usual DuckTales 2017 televised promo, clips are shown of an episode entitled Dance of Deams. The plot summary given by Dawnbuneary is:
- “When Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby are given a mysterious invitation to a dance, it's up to them to figure out who had sent it and why.”
Behind the scenes
The unofficial Dance of Dreams trailer was created by the tumblr user Dawnbuneary, known for other such good-natured hoaxes hosted at Fake DuckTales Screenshots - They're Totally Real, Guys.
The clip was animated entirely by Dawnbuneary over a period of several months; the audio, rather than impersonators, makes use of audio-clips from other roles of Kate Micucci, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan, sampled and then repurposed for their DuckTales 2017 roles.
The promo was sufficiently realistic to gain significant attention online, to the point that fan-art was drawn of it, and that those fans who realized it was not a real episode began clamoring for Dawnbuneary to complete the work and create an entire unofficial episode based on her summary. Though uncertain of her ability to do so, Dawnbuneary claims to have a detailed outline of what the plot of an entire Dance of Dreams episode might be. She has revealed little about it, save for the fact that masked duck lady seen at the end of the promo is supposed to be the episode's antagonist.
