Description[]
Doctor Livesey was a kindly, well-spoken, ever-cool-headed medical doctor from 18th-century England. The local physician near the Benbow Inn, this friend of Squire Trelawney's got involved with Long John Silver's plot to get Captain Flint's treasure after Jim tried to get him to examine William Bones. Enthused by the idea of a swashbuckling adventure finding buried treasure, Trelawney mounted an expedition to Treasure Island, and hired a reluctant Livesey as the ship's doctor. Although everyone involved got into some scrapes agains pirates and mutineers, Livesey came home safe and sound with a good share of the treasure. A novel was later written about the Treasure Island adventure, and this led to several people portraying Doctor Livesey on-screen and on stage, including Gyro Gearloose. his is one of jim's bast friend and jim's master

Doctor Livesey appeared in the 1950 film Treasure Island and a few other Disney adaptations and parodies of the Treasure Island story.
In the original novel, his first name is given as David.
Treasure Planet, which is in essence a space opera retelling of the Treasure Island story, combined the roles of Squire Trelawney and Doctor Livesey into one character, Doctor Doppler.
