The DuckTales Theme is the theme song of DuckTales and of DuckTales 2017.

Context and Summmary

The song is primarily used as the intro for DuckTales and DuckTales 2017 (with an instrumental version for the closing credits unique to DuckTales). As such, it has no particular story context, instead being a general summary of the adventurous life of the titular Ducks, namely Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby.

However, it appears the song also exists in-universe as the credits of the in-universe DuckTales show. As such, Scrooge McDuck and others have been known to hum it.

Life is like a hurricane
Here in Duckburg…
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes —
It's a duck-blur!
Might solve a mystery,
Or rewrite history!
DuckTales! Woo-oo!
Every day they're out there, making
DuckTales! Woo-oo!
Tales of derring-do
Bad and good luck tales!
D-d-d-danger! Lurks behind you!
There's a stranger out to find you
What to do, just grab on to some...
DuckTales! Woo-oo!
Every day they're out there, making
DuckTales! Woo-oo!
Tales of derring-do,
Bad and good luck tales! Woo-oo!
Not ponytails or cottontails, no!
DuckTales! Woo-oo!

1986 version

This version of the song was the earliest to be released and was heard in the DuckTales Plush Toys Commercial.

DuckTales! Woo-oo!
Fun never ends with thems!
DuckTales! Woo-oo!
They're my funny feathered friends!
DuckTales! Quack-Quack!
(Instrumental break)
DuckTales! Quack-Quack!
Funny feathered friends for you!
DuckTales! Woo-oo!
DuckTales! Woo-oooo!

Additional Verses

Both the 2017 and 1987 series also have an extended version of the song that contains an additional segment:

When it seems they're heading for the final curtain
Good deduction never fails
That's for certain!
The worst of messes
Become successes!

Christmas version

There also exists a Christmas-themed version of the song, which was used in the DuckTales 2017 episode Last Christmas:

Life is like a candy cane,
Here in Duckburg
Snowflakes, presents, Santa's sleigh,
It's a duck-blur!
Might make bells jingle,
Or trap Kris Kringle!
Or trap Kris Kringle!
Christmas Eve we're out there makin'
Tales of Christmas Past and Yuletide
Luck tales!

Behind the scenes

The earliest version of DuckTales debuted in 1986, prior to the actual show's release, in a commercial for DuckTales merchandise; this shorter take had substantially different lyrics, as shown above. The best-known version of the song debuted in The Treasure of the Golden Suns (1987).

DuckTales is known as one of the greatest "ear worms" in animation history - a song that simply cannot be forgotten when one has heard it, even once.
