Fashion Forecast is a comic story written and drawn by Carl Barks. It features Scrooge McDuck.
Description[]
Scrooge wonders if winter is really at an end — to make sure that he can start wearing his top hat again without fear of it being knocked down by snowballs or snowstorms!
Continuity[]
- Carl Barks first featured a younger Scrooge McDuck wearing a raccoon-skin cap in a flashback in Only a Poor Old Man (1952). Although he does not clarify it, it seems that the one he wears here in the present day is likely his old one. Don Rosa showed Scrooge recovering it and his Klondike-era jacket in Last Sled to Dawson (1988), placing said story before 1956.
- It is worth noting, to corroborate the idea that the cap in Fashion Forecast is Scrooge's old Klondike-era one, that on the same day he turned in Fashion Forecast, Barks also created Mush! (1956), one of his few stories wholly taking place during Scrooge's Klondike days.
Behind the scenes[]
This story was first published in 1956 in Uncle Scrooge #13. It was reprinted in Uncle Scrooge #227 and, of course, in several versions of the Carl Barks Library, as well as in the Australian Giant #58 and #683 and Jumbo #35.
