The “Fiercest, Fightingest Scarecrow That Ever Snorted Fire” is a male-looking robot scarecrow of unclear sentience.
This scarecrow was the final result of Gyro Gearloose's frustration with the wiliness and daring of Old Blackie and his crows in the process of ruining Gyro's strawberry patch. As its moniker suggested, the Fiercest, Fightingest Scarecrow That Ever Snorted Fire fought like a demon against any and every flying thing, and it looked like one. However, to Gyro's annoyance, the construction of the robot proved pointless because the Little Helper (unbeknownst to Gyro) had already succeeded in chasing the crows out of the country.
Behind the scenes
The Fiercest, Fightingest Scarecrow That Ever Snorted Fire appears at the end of the 1958 Carl Barks story Getting Thor. It is unclear if it is simply an automaton, or if it possesses more-than-rudimentary levels of artificial intelligence.
