Description[]
The Diamond Universe is a world in which events quite similar to Aladdin's first adventure with Jasmine and the Genie took place as a result of quite a different sequence of events occurring a few years earlier in that world's Agrabah. These saw the Genie's Lamp having come into the possession of that universe's Jafar and his apprentice long before Aladdin's adventures began, only for the apprentice to betray Jafar and seal the Lamp back into the Cave of Wonders, being transformed into the Magic Carpet in the process. The same events also depicted Iago's origins as a fellow sorcerer to Jafar and the Mage, who was transformed into his parrot form in the same magical duel, and the genesis of the Cave of Wonders's lion-head and human-like intelligence, shown to be the immortal legacy of a Royal Guard who sacrificed himself to keep the Lamp from Jafar.
Behind the scenes[]
This "what if?" prequel continuity to 1992's Aladdin (which feels free to disregard a few details of the film) was the setting of the well-known tribute webcomic Diamond in the Rough.
