Forget It! is a comic story written and drawn by Don Rosa. It features Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, Magica De Spell, Emily Quackfaster and Jenkins. Gyro Gearloose is mentioned and the Bicorn Duck portrait can be glimpsed.
Plot[]
Magica De Spell is back in Duckburg, with yet another scheme and yet another cheaply-purchased magical artifact with which to enact it! This time, she hits Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck with a curse that makes them forget whatever things are mentioned to them right after their own terms. How can they possibly stop Magica when she needs only tell them “you know, Donald and Scrooge, you only need to call the police to stop me” for them to instantly forget what ‘telephones’ and ‘the police’ actually are? Well… with a lot of outside-the-box thinking and a lot of slapstick, that's how.
References[]
- Magica De Spell uses the ‘Bing! You're Hypnotized’ Wand, which she purchased at the Sorcerers' Bazaar in Cairo.
Continuity[]
- Donald and Scrooge mention that the last time Magica strode in with such confidence, she had a wand to mess up gravity. This sets the story up as a sequel to (and taking place little time after) Don Rosa's earlier A Matter of Some Gravity (1996), which had a similar narrative structure.
- The phrase “Bing! You're hypnotized!”, quoted by Magica De Spell to give an informal name to her wand, is from Carl Barks's Going Ape (1948), though there is no obvious in-universe way for the reference to be deliberate on Magica's part, as she was a decade away from meeting the Ducks when Going Ape took place.
Behind the scenes[]
This story was first printed in 2002 in the Icelandic Andrés Önd #2002-11. It was printed in English in Uncle Scrooge #328, and was, of course, reprinted in the Don Rosa Library.
