Voltaire was a 17th- and 18th-century French writer, philosopher, playwright and satirist who had a huge influence on the French Revolution. Voltaire was well-known for his progressive ideas and his dry wit.

Over a hundred years after Voltaire's death, a Toon vulture was named after him.

Behind the scenesEdit

Voltaire was a real-life figure from French history. The existence of a counterpart of his in the Disney comics universe, who can generally be assumed to be similar in the broad strokes to his historical counterpart, is implied by the later character Voltaire the Vulture, who was named after him.
