Fulton Gearloose is an anthropomorphic cockatoo.
In 1902, the teenage son of inventor Ratchet Gearloose lived in the little village that was Duckburg; this skinny black-haired cockatoo was one of the very few remaining Junior Woodchucks and also one of the first members of the group, being a member of what was referred to as the Duckburg Charter Troop of the Junior Woodchucks.
In 1903, Fulton earned the first Junior Woodchuck merit badge, for having invented the first merit badge.
By 1952, Fulton, likely inspired by his father, had opened Fulton's Fix-it Shop, a repair shop. He had also married Anastasia Pardalto and had two sons, Gyro and another son. That year, he planned his retirement, leaving his shop to Gyro. However, Gyro, rather than a repairman, wanted to be an inventor, and finally got his wish when Scrooge McDuck outright ordered an invention to him. Fulton's whereabouts past that point remain unknown.
Behind the scenesEdit
Fulton was first seen in 1994 in Don Rosa's The Invader of Fort Duckburg, as a little boy. He was however still unnamed, and only in 2002's Gyro's First Invention were his identity (and first name) revealed. His first name may be a reference to Robert Fulton, an American engineer and inventor who is widely credited with developing the first commercially successful steamboat.
