The Genie is a male genie.
Description[]
An immortal, millenia-old genie gifted with 'phenomenal cosmic powers' but trapped in a magic lamp itseld hidden in a cursed cave, the Genie is also a fun-loving kook who delights in references and impressions that seem all the more confusing to his audience because most of them are about things that haven't happened yet (he was already quoting Jack Nicholson in Ancient Times).
After going through many masters, the Genie and associated Cave had become a legend by the time the ancient sorcerer Jafar discovered the Cave's location. His misfiring manipulations resulted in a noble-hearted street thief from Agrabah, called Aladdin, getting the Lamp. Rather than treat the Genie as a "magical vending machine", Aladdin befriended the Genie and, learning that he resented his being essentially a slave, Aladdin selflessly used his third wish to free him.
Overjoyed, the Genie (now a little less powerful as an accidental side-effect of his freedom) spent months on a fast-paced holiday tour of space and time, but found himself missing his mortal friends in Agrabah and soon returned to their side, helping them defeat a returned Jafar for good. He stayed with them ever since, going after them on various adventures.
