Gideon McDuck is, if he exists, a male anthropomorphic duck and the 2017 Continuum's counterpart to Gideon McDuck.
Description
It is possible that there exists, in the 2017 Continuum, a brother to Scrooge McDuck named Gideon, presumably a tough, idealistic editor-in-chief like his Prime Universe self.
Behind the scenes
According to Francisco Angones in Frank Angones and the Suspenders of Disbelief, Gideon McDuck may not exist in the world of DuckTales 2017; at the very least, by July of 2018, the writing team had no plans to feature him in any future episodes.[1]
Interestingly however, the All Ducked Out app on the Disney Channel official website, which allows fans to select various features and props to create their own duck character in the artstyle of DuckTales 2017, includes Gideon's iconic thick-rimmed round glasses and editor's cap among possible props.[2] This is weak evidence of the 2017 Continuum Gideon actually existing, and it has allowed the Scrooge McDuck Wiki to create a rendition of what he might look like (as seen above), though it may not correspond to whatever design the official crew may use if and when they give Gideon a real debut.[3]
