Gold Tech was invented by Gyro Gearloose sometime around 2007 as an experimental fuel source. In spite of running on gold, it's actually a relatively inexpensive fuel source as it only requires miniscule quantities of gold. Dr. Gearloose also chose gold as a fuel source partially because it looks impressive. Gold Tech has yet to turn evil. Its scientific formula is E=Au79 (which essentially translates as: energy=gold). It is the fuel source of the Spear of Selene.

Gold Tech first appeared in Whatever Happened to Della Duck? The idea of a spacecraft powered by gold was previously suggested-though not actually implemented-in the Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers episode “Fake Me to Your Leader.”
