Guard Gunther is an anthropomorphic dog.

Description[]

Guard Gunther is a guard at Scrooge McDuck's East Coast Bin. He appears to be a trusted and reliable guard, having once been to sent to the Duckburg Money Bin "on a secret mission" and being instantly recognized by McDuck himself, implying that he is familiar to and trusted by his boss. During this secret mission, he was attacked by the Money Bin's janitor and Scrooge McDuck's nephew, Donald Duck, who mistook poor Gunther for a Beagle Boy in disguise.

It is not clear if Gunther is his first name or last name and if "Guard" is just his title or an actual name. During his "secret mission", Scrooge, Donald, and an anonymous Money Bin guard consistently referred to him as "Guard Gunther" rather than just "Gunther", always using both names.

Behind the scenes[]

Guard Gunther first appeared in 1968 in On Guard, a story drawn by Tony Strobl.
