Halloween Screams: A Villainous Surprise in the Sky is a projection show/audioplay serving as the backdrop of a fireworks display, with the show created under the supervision of Steven Davison and Eric Tucker. It features Jack Skellington, Zero, the Floating Candelabra, the Man-Eating Wreath, Ursula, Cruella De Vil, the Dalmatian Puppies, the Tick-Tock Crocodile, the Skeletons, Kaa, Heffalumps & Woozles, Pink Elephants, Oogie Boogie, Doctor Facilier's Shadow and other “Friends on the Other Side

Plot[]

Jack Skellington is the ringmaster of a bone-chilling Halloween party full of ghosts, monsters and villains! The first guest, Ursula, has no qualms about casting dark spells to force the audience to sing along as the anthems of various evil-doers rise through the night — but even that's not enough of a show for Oogie Boogie, who soon materializes as a shadow on the Moon and wrestles the spotlight from Jack to sing The Boogie SOng, only to be interrupted himself by Maleficent and her darker brand of villainy.

Songs[]

Note: all the songs here are new arrangements of preexisting Disney songs, most heavily cut down and with their lyrics altered.

  • This Is Halloween
  • Poor Unfortunate Souls
  • Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
  • The Boogie Song
  • Hellfire (instrumental version)
  • This Is Halloween (brief reprise)
  • Grim Grinning Ghosts (reprise)
  • I Put a Spell on You

Continuity[]

  • Animation from The Little Mermaid (1989) is recycled for Ursula's brief “on-screen” appearances in the projection part of the show.

Behind the scenes[]

Halloween Screams is a yearly show which has been hosted at Disneyland every Halloween since 2009. It is Disneyland's counterpart to the similar HalloWishes show at Walt Disney World, which has a somewhat different narrative, with the Ghost Host as the master of ceremony, and contains much less in the way of visual projections. Hong Kong Disneyland also has its own version of the same show, Nightmare in the Sky.
