Harriet Hen is a lady of unknown species, though she may be an anthropomorphic chicken or anthropomorphic duck.

Description

Harriet Hen is a friend of Clarabelle Cow and Patricia Pigg, participating in at least some gossip with the two. She and Patricia once relayed to Clarabelle a tale about Squire Skinflint evicting his own grandmother during a blizzard.

Behind the scenes

Harriet Hen was first mentioned in a strip of Mr Slicker and the Egg Robbers initially released on November the 7th, 1930, where she is mentioned in tandem with Patricia Pigg.

In an earlier strip of the same story (the one released on November the 1st, 1930), a female duck appears alongside Clarabelle Cow and Patricia Pigg. This duck lady also appeared in November the 11th, 1930 strip of Mr Slicker and the Egg Robbers.

Gottfredson duck lady

The duck from Mr Slicker and the Egg Robbers who might be the same character as Harriet Hen.

Since female ducks are sometimes referred to as "hens", and both the unnamed duck lady and Harriet Hen are implied to form something of a trio with Clarabelle and Patricia, it may not be too much of a stretch of the imagination to assume that the unnamed duck lady and Harriet Hen are the same character. However, this is entirely unconfirmed and is merely speculation.
