Helmsman Benny, also known as the Birdbeak Helsman and other such nicknames, is a male anthropomorphic bird, most probably a cockatoo).
Description
Dependable and tough, Benny the Helmsman worked for Soapy Slick since the Gold Rush days until the 1960s. During his career, he piloted several riverboats for Soapy Slick, though it is unknown what he did after his last one sank.
Behind the scenes
The Helmsman first appeared in Last Sled to Dawson. Although he was never given an official name in English, prompting fans have refer to him as "the Birdbeak Helmsman" or "the Riverboat Crew", the French translation of Last Sled to Dawson refers to the man as "Benny".
