Johann “Goofy” Strauss II was a male anthropomorphic dog.

Description[edit | edit source]

An ancestor of Goofy's, and nicknamed “Goofy” himself for his eccentricities and naïveté, Johann Strauss was a famous Austrian composer born in Vienna. He composed much dance music known even to the modern day for its elegance. In 1964, Scrooge McDuck assumed, upon seeing a particularly unpleasantly noisy display of rock'n'roll dancing, that Strauss, were he still alive, would have heartily disapproved.

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Johann Strauss II was a real-life figure from music history. He was first mentioned in the 1964 Carl Barks story The Billion Dollar Safari
