King Leopold was a human man.
Description[]
The King of an enchanted kingdom in the Black Forest, King Leopold was once married to the kindly Queen Eva and they had a baby daughter they named Snow White. Afterward, Eva died, leaving Leopold heartbroken. He let himself be seduced by another woman, a powerful sorceress, and already the Queen of another realm (the Kingdom of Shaitan) named Grimhilde.
A doting father to Snow White, Leopold hoped that Grimhilde would be a loving stepmother to Snow White. Sadly, he was gravely mistaken, as Grimhilde had Leopold murdered and she ruled the kingdom herself, until she was brought down by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937.
Behind the scenes[]
King Leopold was planned to appear in 1937 in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but was cut for time. His name was only ever revealed in the TV show Once Upon a Time.
In the musical version of the film, the main change to the storyline is that King Leopold is alive throughout the tale, reappearing at the end of the story to be reunited with his daughter and order the imprisonment of Luna.
