Lovelorn Launchpad is a comic story written by Paul Halas, scripted by Jack Sutter and drawn by José Maria Millet Lopez. It features Scrooge McDuck, Webby Vanderquack, Launchpad McQuack, and, in her debut, Bedelia Airheart.
Launchpad McQuack has been behaving strangely as of late, mostly because of a crush on star air pilot Bedelia Airheart. Learning that his supposed soulmate's plane apparently crashed in the Himalayas, Launchpad goes off to rescue her and faces off a yeti… only to find that Bedelia does not return his affection, and could have gotten out of her predicament by herself!
Behind the scenesEdit
This story was first published in 1996 in the Swedish Kalla Ankka & Co #1996-08. It was first printed in English in the British Mickey and Friends #1996-07 that same year. It was finally printed in the U.S.A. in 2010 in Uncle Scrooge #396; in this version, according to American habits, the script had been "localized" by David Gerstein.
Though nominally a DuckTales episode, the story may not take place within the DuckTales timeframe but actually later, since it was presumably written to take place in the present day of its writing (1996), several years after the in-universe end of DuckTales. As Donald Duck and Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck are not featured in the story, it is entirely possible that the former had already returned from the navy during this story's events.
