Megavolt is a fictional anthropomorphic rat, and the 2017 Continuum's version of Megavolt.
Description
Megavolt is a character from the television series Darkwing Duck. In one episode of the series, he joins forces with Quackerjack and Liquidator to rob a bank, only to be intercepted by Darkwing Duck. He evidently appeared alongside his two teammates and Bushroot on at least one other occasion, as recalled by Drake Mallard.
In the 2019 film Darkwing: First Darkness, Megavolt was reenvisioned as a taller, more heavyset rat and main antagonist of the film. Alistair Boorswan's script called for Darkwing, as played by Drake Mallard, to surrender to the villain on a rooftop where he had an electrical turret hooked to a pair of giant electrodes. However, former TV actor Jim Starling attempted to hijack the film, attacking Megavolt's actor and seizing control of the turret, starting a fire in the process. The actor playing Megavolt subsequently fled the set, while one of the electrodes subsequently exploded, seemingly killing Starling.
Behind the scenes
Megavolt first appeared in Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System. Unlike the Prime Universe's version of Megavolt, this Megavolt is a fictional character in-universe. The TV series version is closely modeled on the Prime Universe version, while the latter seems to be modeled on DC's Bane as he appears in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
