Behind the scenes[]
Millie and Melody were introduced in the comics in 1962. The pair have gone by various names, some of which might be attributed to continuity error. The situation is not alleviated by the fact that Minnie has had a number of nieces across various pieces of media, including:
- A niece usually named Melodia/Melody who is not typically depicted as a twin.
- A niece named Zizi in a Brazilian comic.
- Tiny and Lily, nieces who are twins but typically depicted as teenagers where Millie and Melody are usually young children.
- Triplet nieces from a 1940s Mickey Mouse book with the names Dolly, Polly, and Molly, with the name Molly also reportedly being used for a single niece in a comic story.
