Description[]
Gentle, portly Mrs Van Astorbilt and her husband are extremely rich Duckburgers of refined tastes. As a result, when trying to climb up the social ladder in 1948, Donald Duck invited them both to his garden party, unaware that his girlfriend and nephews (believing themselves to be be monkeys because of Hypnotic Spectacles) would crash the party. After a bowl of chocolate cream was thrown at Mrs Van Astorbilt's face, the two fled. Eleven years later, Scrooge McDuck invited her (although, it seems, not her husband) to a similar picnic-for-the-elite, which was again ruined by wacky circumstances, in this case by the unexpected arrival of Doctor Thinknoble's Titanic Ants, from whom Mrs Van Astorbilt fled up a tree.

Mrs Van Astorbilt first appeared in the 1948 story Going Ape. She was seen again int he 1959 story The Titanic Ants!.
A rich family known as the "Astorbilts" are mentioned in Don Rosa's Fit to be Pied, however, it is unknown if this is the same family.
