Negaduck is the supervillain identity taken up by Jim Starling following his mental breakdown, and the version of Negaduck who exists in the 2017 Continuum.
Description[]
This Negaduck was “born” after Jim Starling went mad with jealousy at the shooting of a Darkwing Duck film where he was no longer the star, being instead replaced with Drake Mallard, the president of the actor's fan club. Starling's increasingly desperate (and unethical) efforts to get into the film ended in a massive accident where Starling was believed dead. He had, in truth, survived, having gone fully mad and believing that the entire movie had been a setup to assassinate him. His outfit bleached by the electrically-charged sewer water into which he had fallen, he emerged as Negaduck, determined to take down Mallard, who, meanwhile, had been convinced by fellow Darkwing Duck fan Launchpad McQuack to take up the Darkwing mantle in real life.
Quotes[]
- Show's over, Deadmeat Duck!
- They want grim and gritty, huh? Happy to play the part!
Behind the scenes[]
This rebooted version of Negaduck debuted in the 2019 DuckTales 2017 episode The Duck Knight Returns, though Jim Starling himself had appeared a full year earlier in Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System. According to storyboards for an earlier version of Let's Get Dangerous!, Negaduck would originally have been revealed as the main antagonist of the second part, having posed as Taurus Bulba's assistant for the first half of the special.[1]
