Description[]
The temperamental ruler of the Seven Seas, King Poseidon, or King Netune, was the Greco-Roman God of the Ocean, married to the lesser goddess Amphitrite. He was very protective of Merfolk, and eventually settled down as their king. He became mortal and fathered several merpeople children, but died of a rare and very lethal flu at some point between the 18th and late 20th century. His kingdom was divided between his son Triton (who had already helped him in ruling the Merfolk for many years) and his daughter Ursula, with Triton inheriting the Trident from which Poseidon derived the most of his power, and Ursula getting a Magic Seashell.

Based on the mythological figure, Poseidon was first seen in the 1932 cartoon short King Neptune.
