The Pseudo-Pessimist was originally a shoddily-constructed duplicate of Pessimist-242, made from a quick scan of Pessimist's mechanics by the Drove of the Database-Compiling Dromedaries and sent back to the Cupid Homeworld in an effort to delay the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids' finding out that the Drove had captured Pessimist. Beyond the dubious physical likeness between the Pseudo-Pessimist and the original, the Dromedaries also got another key detail wrong: the Pseudo-Pessimist has an unfailingly helpful and upbeat personality, the polar opposite of the real Pessimist. For that exact reason, the Crew both instantly realised he was an impostor, and decided to let him stay a part of the Blue Feather anyway, being that he is so earnest and helpfuL.

Behind the scenes

The Pseudo-Pessimist first appeared in 2019 in the short story Pessimist and the Dromedaries.
