Raiding Area 51 is an unofficial DuckTales 2017 meme-styled "comic". Initially created by Twitter user Bisoro, it was retweeted by Francisco Angones, who explicitly declared it canonical. Animator Ben Halstead made his own addition to the post, as, shortly thereafter, did Angones, who was prompted to elaborate on the implication (due to a reference to Naruto in the original post) that the notorious anime series existed in some form within the 2017 Continuum.
The original features Scrooge McDuck, Webby Vanderquack, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, Della Duck, Launchpad McQuack, Donald Duck, Bentina Beakley, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, Flintheart Glomgold and Fethry Duck; the additions also feature Gladstone Gander and “Hareuto”.
Plot[]
The illustration presents the reaction of various recurring characters to the then-notorious meme about civilians teaming up to raid Area 51 and discover "the truth about aliens" — ranging from Donald Duck and Bentina Beakley, desperate to stop the more turbulent elements from actually going there and getting hurt, to Fethry Duck and Gladstone Gander, who not only show up but somehow manage to, respectively, get in, and escape aboard a flying saucer.
As Della Duck, Dewey Duck and Launchpad McQuack's plans are expressed in the form of a Naruto reference, Francisco Angones's section then presents the 2017 Continuum version of this fictional character, an anthropomorphic rabbit by the name of Hareuto.
Behind the scenes[]
This "story" arose on Twitter in 2019 amidst the sea of variations on the "raiding Area 51" joke-meme, in the multi-authorial circumstances detailed in the opening paragraph of this page.
