Rembrandt was an anthropomorphic duck.

Description[]

Rembrandt was a notorious 17th-century Dutch painter. He was an anthropomorphic duck but painted himself as a human in self-portraits.[1] Donald Duck was once sold a fake Rembrandt painting by a conman.[2]

While working as a house painter, Donald Duck would later liken himself to Rembrandt, noting that “even he had had to start somewhere”. Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck were unconvinced by the simile, pointing out to their uncle that Rembrandt never actually worked as a housepainter.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Rembrandt was first mentioned in the Prime Universe in the 1940 comic strip A Work of Art?.
