Saint Donald was a male anthropomorphic duck.
Description[]
This Donald lived in 8th century Scotland in the region of Angus. He had nine daughters with whom he founded a religious community, spreading the "will of the Lord" in a manner typical of medieval Scotsmen: via club. At some point after his death, this possible ancestor of Donald Duck who was, at any rate, his namesake was canonized, becoming known as Saint Donald; the city of Aberdeen eventually chose him as its patron saint.
Behind the scenes[]
Saint Donald, mentioned in Allo Donald!, also appears in the 1975 story The Famous Donalds.
He is loosely based on the historical Saint Donald of Ogilvy, although the historical Donald lived a quiet monastic life, in opposition to the club-wielding character depicted in The Famous Donalds as part of a running gag wherein, no matter their supposed degree of refinements, all the historical scotsmen in the story were prone to hitting dissenters with clubs to shut them up.
