Secret Sea Raider is a comic story possibly written by Bob Ogle and drawn by Paul Murry. It features the Phantom Blot, the Beagle Boys, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck and Chief O'Hara.
Description[]
The Phantom Blot escapes from prison, leaving only an enigmatic set of nautical documents in his cell for clues, and makes for a mysterious deserted island off the coast, in the company of the Beagle Boys. It is not long before it is revealed that the newly-minted “Captain Blot”, now a self-styled modern-day buccaneer, intends to construct a flying pirate ship and intercept the shipment of gold being sailed to Duckburg by Scrooge McDuck and his crew of trained chimps! Hence, it's wacky seafaring swashbuckling that awaits Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, called to investigate — for all that Donald would rather be watching a movie!
Behind the scenes[]
This story was only ever printed in the U.S.A. in The Phantom Blot #6, though it was also reprinted in the Australian Giant #398 and #609.
The writing credit for this story is lost to history; however, it is comics historian and notorious Phantom Blot fan Joe Torcivia's opinion that Issues 3 to 6 of the book were written by Bob Ogle, including this story.
