Silas Perkins's Niece is a young female anthropomorphic cat.

Description

This young girl, outgoing to the point of being "rough on toys" (which never lasted long in her hands), was the daughter of the sister of Silas Perkins. By 1939, she lived in Stickleville like her mother and her Uncle Silas. Silas gave her a defective camera as a new toy, not realising that the reason his store-bought camera did not work was that its internal parts were jammed by a secret formula hidden there by the Phantom Blot. The girl enjoyed pretending to take pictures of her puppy with the camera.

Realizing the Blot was after the camera, Mickey Mouse later tracked down the Perkins girl playing on the front of her lawn whilst her mother was visiting "Aunt Gussie." The Perkins girl, and her dog, didn't like Mickey as her mother told her not to talk to strangers and she refused to sell the camera as a crowd of citizens gather to gaze disapprovingly at Mickey. A desperate Mickey was forced to steal the camera from the child and escape a mob of angry Stickleville citizens.

Behind the Scenes

Silas Perkins's Niece appears in the 1939 story Mickey Mouse Outwits the Phantom Blot. Interestingly, her cat-like appearance suggests either that she has dog ancestry (presumably from Silas's unseen sister or her unseen husband) or that she or her mother was adopted.
