Spip is a sapient (but not anthropomorphic) squirrel.
Description[]
Found by Spirou in the lair of mad scientist Sosthenes Silly, Spip became the young adventurer's loyal companion, somewhere between a friend and a pet — for although few people understand his high-pitched squeaks, Spip is fully sentient. Though he tags along with Spirou and Fantasio on their adventures and has saved their hides countless times, he is not too interested in adventuring himself, and spends most of said adventures dodging danger and making wry comments about what goes on around him.
