Storm Dancers is a comic story written and storyboarded by Carl Barks, and drawn by Daan Jippes. A remake of the the story of the same name from 1972, it features Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, other Junior Woodchucks, Mayor Hogwilde, Philodemus Gentlefogg (referred to as the J.O.Y.K.I.L.L.E.R.) and Miss Chalkdust. Carl Barks makes a cameo appearance.

Plot

As summer comes to a close, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck are loathe to give up on daily Junior Woodchucking to instead go back to school. Using their Guidebook's chapter on rain-dances, they and a few of their fellow troopers scheme to cause a downpour that will get the next day's classes canceled, but they soon get more than they bargained for…

Behind the scenes

This story was first printed in 1992 in the Dutch Donald Duck #1992-13. It was printed in English in Gladstone's Donald Duck Adventures #32 and in Volume 1 of The Daan Jippes Collection.

There exist a few differences between the original Storm Dancers and this version of the tale; most notably Jippes rendered the J.O.Y.K.I.L.L.E.R. as merely Philodemus Gentlefogg under a new title, though he appears to be a different character in the Wright version. Jippes and Wright are also at odds on whom of the two elderly ladies seen in the last page is Miss Chalkdust, the nephews' schoolteacher. Without access to Barks's original storyboard, it is unknown which version most corresponds to Barks's original intentions on these two points. Additionally, in an intentional easter egg, Jippes slipped Carl Barks into one of the crowd scenes near the beginning.
