Super Ducktales, also aired as a five-part serial consisting of Liquid Assists, Frozen Assets, Full Metal Duck, The Billionaire Beagle Boys Club, and Money to Burn, is an animated feature film written by David Weimers and Ken Koonce, and directed by James T. Walker. It features Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, Launchpad McQuack, Gyro Gearloose, Bentina Beakley, Duckworth, Ma Beagle, Big Time Beagle, Bouncer Beagle, Doofus Drake and, in their debuts, Fenton Crackshell, his alias Gizmoduck, Gandra Dee, Mrs Crackshell, GICU-2, Megabyte Beagle, M.E.L., and the Prison Guard.
Plot
When Scrooge McDuck needs a new accountant, Fenton Crackshell enthusiastically answers the call. But when Fenton literally talks his way into becoming a superhero, can he rise to the task and prove to the world that he's a somebody, Gizmosuit or no Gizmosuit?
References
- Gyro Gearloose invented GICU-2 in this episode to guard Scrooge McDuck's Money Bin.
- As a replacement for GICU-2 (which was not capable of enough thought to realise that Scrooge McDuck is an exception to its programming to let no-one into the Money Bin), Gyro Gearloose built the Gizmosuit, which requires a human pilot to function.
Continuity
- Fenton Crackshell dumping Scrooge McDuck's money into Lake Doughbegone is a reference to Only a Poor Old Man.
Behind the Scenes
Super Ducktales spans the 71st to 75th episodes of DuckTales. It first aired as a feature-length special on The Magical World of Disney. It won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming More Than One Hour).
Some reruns of Liquid Assets omit the scene where Scrooge McDuck fires a gun at Fenton Crackshell (albeit one loaded with plastic pellets). Unfortunately, this also cuts the important sequence of Scrooge discovering Fenton's impressive knack for counting, and subsequently hiring Fenton.
