The Beagle Boys' Very Merry Unchristmas!, entitled Natal Muito Doido (“Very Crazy Christmas”) in the original Portuguese, is a comic story drawn by Roberto O. Fukue. It features the Beagle Boys, the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse, the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts, the King of Hearts, the Card Soldiers, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, the Oysters, the Walrus and the Carpenter, the Mock Turtle, Humpty Dumpty, and, in cameo appearances, Sr. X, the Phantom Blot, Peg-Leg Pete, X-1, X-2 and X-3, Dum-Dum and the Super Thief. Old Father William is also mentioned, and Pete is dressed as Santa Claus.
The tunnel the Beagle Boys dug to get out of jail for Christmas leads them not to freedom, but to Wonderland, where they get caught up in the Queen of Hearts' counterintuitive, backwards Christmas celebrations while also encountering a few other choice residents of the land of madness…
Behind the scenesEdit
This story was first printed in 1985 in the Brazilian Natal Disney de Ouro #7. It was printed in the U.S.A. in 2018 in IDW's Mickey and Donald Christmas Parade #4, with localization by Thad Komorrowksy.
The title picked by the translator was Very Merry Unchristmas, a more directly Wonderland-inspired variation on the original title of Very Crazy Christmas. The table of contents of Christmas Parade #4 refers to it as such. However, the title page itself uses the title The Beagle Boys' Very Merry Christmas! instead, and INDUCKS has it down as Very Merry Christmas!. It is assumed that "Merry" was the result of a typo or unfortunate autocorrection of "Unmerry", leaving the story's planned print title as The Beagle Boys' Very Unchristmas!, which is what we have used here.
