The Empire-Builder from Calisota, also printed as The Richest Duck in the World, is a comic story written and drawn by Don Rosa. It features Scrooge McDuck, Hortense McDuck, Matilda McDuck, Donald Duck and Della Duck, King El Dorado, Foola Zoola, Bombie the Zombie, John Jacob Astor Quackmore Duck, Emily Quackfaster, Katie Mallard, Copperhead McViper, King Fulla Colla and the Brown-Mustached Mayor. It is Chapter Eleven of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.
Plot
Scrooge McDuck travels around the world, strengthening his financial empire, seeking to become the richest duck in the world. However, he is also progressively losing his moral side, to the disapproval of his sisters Matilda and Hortense. This culminates when Scrooge illegally burns down a village for profit in Africa. Karma then kicks in when nefarious sorcerer Foola Zoola decides to take revenge for the burnt village by summoning an undead servant carrying a terrible curse on Scrooge McDuck.
