The Return of the Phantom Blot is a comic story written by an unknown writer and drawn by Paul Murry. It features Mickey Mouse, Goofy, the Phantom Blot, Chief O'Hara, Peg-Leg Pete, Scuttle and Detective Casey.
Shortly after Goofy confesses a fascination with the Phantom Blot case to Mickey, new crimes are comitted in the imprisoned Phantom Blot's name. How is he doing all this from within his cell? The police and Mickey are puzzled, and Peg-Leg Pete trying to take advantage of this wave of aprocryphal robberies does nothing to simplify this very thorny case.
- The Phantom Blot Meets the Mysterious Mr X (1964), printed a few months later, references numerous facts introduced in this story, such as Goofy's hobby of collecting newspaper clippings about the Phantom Blot.
Behind the scenesEdit
This story was first printed in four chapters, in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #284, #285, #286 and #287. The entire story was then reprinted in Mickey Mouse #285.
The story was intended as a sequel to Mickey outwits the Phantom Blot, although several Italian stories had already shown the Blot escaping and being sent back to jail at this point, making this far from the second confrontation between Mickey and the Blot in-universe.
