*[[Grandma Duck]] is mentioned in the second strip of this story in what seems to be the first ever mention of her. She wouldn't appear again until ''[[Buried Money]]'' (1940). ==Behind the scenes== ''The Wise Little Hen'' was written by [[Ted Osborne]] with art by [[Al Taliaferro]]. It was originally printed in serialized format over the course of several months and in American newspapers. This serialized printing began on September the 16th, 1934 and ended three months later on December the 16th, 1934. It has been reprinted many times and in many different nations.<ref name="~~strip~~inducks" /> Notably, this story served as the first appearance of [[Donald Duck]] in comic strips, as well as the first mention of [[Grandma Duck]]
