Turkey With All the Schemings is a comic story written and drawn by Carl Barks. It features Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, Scrooge McDuck, and, in his debut, the Duke of Baloni. The Junior Woodchucks are also mentioned.
It's Christmas Day, and Donald Duck suddenly realizes that he has spent the last of his savings on presents for the kids without giving thought to buying a turkey. He hatches a scheme to weasel a turkey out of his Uncle Scrooge by disguising himself as an important businessman.
Behind the scenesEdit
This story was first printed in 1953 in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #148, and reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #328, Gladstone Comic Album #25, Uncle Scrooge #284, Walt Disney's Comics in Color #4, and, of course, in the Carl Barks Library, as well as in the Australian Walt Disney's Comics #87, #243 and #267 and the British The Best of Donald Duck #1.
The story is most noteworthy for the only official appearance of the Duke of Baloni, a short-lived Carl Barks creation described as the "second-richest duck in the world", a title Barks would later revive and famously allocate to a completely different character, Flintheart Glomgold. Rediscovered by the fandom, the Duke was given a role in the unofficial comic Hare-Brained Hooligans in 2018, shortly before DuckTales 2017 alluded to his existence by making their rebooted Flintheart Glomgold's long-forgotten true name “Duke Baloney”.
