Update was an unofficial comic story by Debbie Anne Perry, accompanied by text by Joe Torcivia. It featured Mickey Mouse and Fluffy and Mervin, in their capacity as the Legion of the Chartreuse Tortoise, with the prose portion implicity narrated by the in-universe Joe Torcivia.
Description[]
New photographic evidence surfaces about the Legion of the Chartreuse Tortoise's true nature, in the form of Mickey Mouse's discovery that unlike the similarly-named Horde of the Violet Hare or many of its other copycats, the Legion is nothing more numerous or threatening than a cat and a mouse borrowing someone's phone!
Continuity[]
- Released a day after Hare-Brained Hooligans (2019), this comic shares the other's purpose of "paying off" part of the long-running in-joke-turned-storyline going on in the comments section of the blog Joe Torcivia's The Issue At Hand of various Strangely-Colored Secret Societies leaving comments on Torcivia's blog post, one of the societies being the Legion of the Chartreuse Tortoise, created by Debbie Anne Perry, who had been implied many times over to be an alias of her characters Fluffy and Mervin, crossing over into the Disney Comics Universe for the occasion. Before submitting the cartoon itself to Torcivia's blog, Perry left another comment in-character as the in-universe Debbie, explaining some of the context for the then-unreleased scene:
- Don’t encourage Fluffy and Mervin (really, mostly Mervin) and their Secret Society nonsense. I keep getting notifications from the Mouseton Police Department about Detective Casey catching the two of them hanging around peering into Mickey Mouse’s windows looking for lost Atlantian artifacts, and all Mervin says about it is, “Aw, that guy couldn’t catch a cold!”
Behind the scenes[]
This unlicensed story was released in late December of 2018 on Joe Torcivia's The Issue At Hand. It constitutes another crossover between the Prime Universe and the Fluffy and Mervin webcomic, though this time it is Fluffy and Mervin who are encroaching on a Disney story rather than a concept from Duckburg getting a cameo in the main Fluffy and Mervin comics as had been the case with Captain Retro-Duck… er, um, “Retros” Again! in 2015.
