The Whiskervilles are a scottish clan rivaling the McDucks, and have been for centuries. They live near Castle McDuck, and are willing to break nearly any law to get the upper hand on the McDucks.

History

In 1675 they invented a ghastly figure, the Hound of the Whiskervilles, which they used to chase the McDucks out of Scottland with. The Whiskervilles then used the rivaling clan's land to feed their sheep on.

In 1877 the Whiskervilles attempted to break in to Castle McDuck to search for Quackly's hidden treasure. But they were chased away by Scrooge, impersonating Quackly's ghost. This event scarred the Whiskervilles so much they were left with white hair for the rest of their lives.

When the McDucks moved back into their ancestral castle in (or before) 1885, the Whiskervilles tried to have them tossed out through more legal means. Fenton Whiskerville had become a sheriff, and thus had influence to have take possession of the castle if the McDucks could not pay their taxes for it.

By 1960, only Angus McWhisker remained of the clan. However, in shame of his clan's criminal history, he changed his last name to McWhisker. Even so, he still maintained the old Whiskerville custom of chasing away any strangers by dressing up as The Hound, until he was found out by Scrooge McDuck.

Appearances

Behind the Scenes

The Whiskervilles first appeared in Hound of the Whiskervilles (story), which is the only time Carl Barks used them in a story.

The name of the clan, and the title of their first story, is an obvious reference to The Hound of the Baskervilles.
