Wispy Willie, also printed as Moving Daze, is a comic story written and drawn by Carl Barks. It features Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, Tabby, and, in their debuts, Jeems, Doctor Superthink and Wispy Willie. A woman also disguises herself as Grimhilde, with a random raven holding Norman's part.

Plot[]

Scrooge McDuck wants to build a gizmo factory, but Donald Duck refuses to sell the last plot of land he needs, which happens to be the location of his house. Unearthing his Book of Diabolical Stratagems, Scrooge uses trick after trick to try and scare Donald into selling, from a faked rat infestation to counterfeit witches, dragons and man-eating gorillas… culminating in his hiring a mad scientist to create a will-o-the-wisp for him! But nothing seems to work out…

Behind the scenes[]

This story was first published in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #159, and was later reprinted in Uncle Scrooge #101, #175 and #322, Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #566, and, of course, in the various versions of the Carl Barks Library. It was also printed in the British Mickey and Friends #1996-10 as well as the Australian Walt Disney's Comics #92, Jumbo #31, Giant #531 (as Moving Daze) and Uncle Scrooge #322.

Ten years later, Carl Fallberg, Tony Strobl and John Liggera created the story The Beach Caper, which keeps the premise and structure of the Barks story, but transports the entire plot to the beach, with all of Scrooge's attempts to shoo Donald away being appropriate reimagined as various seaside hazards such as sharks, floods, and ultimately a sea serpent.
