Zeus, also known as Jupiter, is a god and Zeus's counterpart from the 2017 Continuum.

Description

This version of the God Zeus, stressing his "God of Hospitality" facet, turned Ithaquack into a "vacation resort" for gods and heroes after he retired. He enjoyed life there with his son Storkules for centuries, but became jealous and embittered when his latest hero guests, Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck and Della Duck, proved more competent than him at all the challenges scattered throughout the island. Zeus rained down lightning on the isle for a whole year in his anger, chasing away all the Island's residents save for Storkules and Selene. Later on, a repeat visit by Scrooge and Donald (now joined by Donald's nephews) did little to assuage the feud between he and McDuck.

Behind the scenes

Zeus, based on the mythological figure of the same name, and specificially on the Prime Universe's Zeus as depicted in Trombone Trouble, first truly appeared in The Spear of Selene, an episode of DuckTales 2017 (although he made a cameo appearance in the map of Duckburg).

In allusion to the original mythology, it was planned to depict Zeus as an anthropomorphic swan rather than duck, though this was eventually abandoned.

His design appears to be a mix of the forms the Prime Universe's Zeus takes in Trombone Trouble and Hercules, deriving his crown, clothing, species, and habit of spewing lightning when excited from the former, and his body shape and voice from the latter.
